...along Wilshire Boulevard, in our historic Wilshire Center neighborhood, most of corporate America had a presence. This photo taken during that time period gives view to just a few, IBM, Texaco, Tishman and of course the biggest of them all, the Gaylord!
The Gaylord, being one of the very first on the boulevard, has seen many come & go and plenty of changes over it's 92 year history and we gallantly continue to stand tall amid all those changes.
One of those changes was with the Tishman building, at 3325 Wilshire Blvd (in photo). As originally designed and seen here, the building had aluminum louvers on the west side of the structure and aluminum shades on it's southern facade. These were a much more interesting architectural detail than what the building looks like today. Again, as previously noted in the recent post on the Morgan Adams building, someone came along and decided to whitewash the exterior to make the structure look more boring. THANKFULLY, no one has ever gotten their hands on the exterior of our Gaylord! What a crime that would be.
