caffeine addicts...

Tully's has recently opened, one block away, under the Equitable building at the corner of Wilshire Blvd & Mariposa. For those of you looking for your Starbucks style fix, hit this place up. Good coffee, good treats (try the roti bun) and a good place to hang out in.

another church offering...

Don't worry folks, I am not on some kind of evangelical agenda here with these recent church listings, I just want to fill you in on local places of interest that you might enjoy. St. James Episcopal Church on Wilshire Blvd, just west of Western, will be starting the candlelight meditations (or as they call it, 'compline') again in October. This happens on the 4th Sunday of the month, between 7:30-8:30 pm. I have been attending this for the last several years now, whenever I get the chance. It is a great way to end the week, clear your head and prepare yourself for a new week. St. James is a beautiful old church and lit by candlelight with the frankincense burning and live Gregorian chanting in the background during the whole meditation can be quite moving. The very brief liturgical break, halfway through, you can either choose to ignore (as I do, yes I did say that) or take to heart. This candlelight meditation service is worth visiting. You just might get something out of it.

Bach Festival...

The First Congregational Church of Los Angeles (located on 6th Street, just east of Virgil) will soon begin its' 77th Annual Los Angeles Bach Festival on Oct. 17th. This event is sponsored with KUSC Classical/FM 91.5 and the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. Check out their website for more info on this series of concerts at www.FCCLA.org.

And, if you have never been to this church to hear their organ, you should take yourself! The First Congregational Church has the world's largest church pipe organ. On Thursdays, at lunch time, they have an organ concert series open to the public. I attended one a few years back and the organ carries quite the wallop of impact. Brace yourself.

Get out there and explore your neighborhood!

a note of thanks...

Miss Mo would like to thank all who came out yesterday and supported the Flutterbies by buying baked goods and playing twister. They were able to raise funds to send the band to the Temecula International Film Festival where they will be performing on the main stage. Try to make a trip out there to watch this talented group.
