Time Passes By...

Our talented photographer, Jason, shot this from inside one of the Gaylord apartments. Looking west down Wilshire Boulevard with the very identifiable Wilshire Christian Church steeple, on the right and the Shepard Fairey mural on the Line Hotel next to the church.

Striking color in this photo and fantastic movement of light. To get a look at more of his work, go to his website at jasonkamimuraphotography.com . And, if you are into retro pin-up girls, you are definitely in for a treat with his photos.

The Dream...

Poolside, amongst the trees & the Gaylord as the backdrop for a very special performance of Shakespeare's classic, which truly turned out to be 'A Midsummer Night's Dream.' A very heartfelt THANK YOU to our Byron, the actors & all who helped to stage this production. It was another one of those unique Gaylord moments that can only happen here in our community.

Wilshire Blvd CicLAvia 2016...

We always have to give mad props to the folks at the CicLAvia organization for their efforts in making L.A. a more bicycle friendly city and less auto oriented and yesterday's event along Wilshire Boulevard was festive. As witnessed in front of our Gaylord, this time around, less people were out participating in the event, maybe due to the hot weather or they were home or at a bar watching the Olympics in the comfort of air conditioning, but those who were out seemed to thoroughly enjoy a vehicle free boulevard & a quick drink at the HMS Bounty. Here's to the next one!

Ride Like the Wind...

... on your bicycle, tricycle, unicycle or walk, be pushed in a stroller, pulled in a wagon, rollerblade or skateboard this Sunday. CicLAvia returns on Sunday, August 14th, along our Wilshire Boulevard, from 9am- 4pm. The boulevard will be closed to motorized traffic! ***REMINDER*** Be sure to remove your automobile from Wilshire Blvd on Saturday night. Otherwise, you will risk the chance of having it towed away to make room for this people friendly & fun event. Get out there and enjoy!

Neon Crowns...

Or, in this case, neon derby's. This coming Saturday, August 13th, at the Museum of Neon Art, located in Glendale, they will be revealing the restored original neon sign from The Brown Derby, which sat at the corner of Hollywood & Vine. For more info on this exhibit, go to their website at neonmona.org.

Now, if we could just get someone to locate the original neon sign for the Brown Derby that stood next to us here at the Gaylord. Imagine how grand it would be to see that neon once again adorned upon the derby, at the corner of Wilshire & Alexandria.

Treasure hunters & scavengers, seek and ye shall find and return the neon to it's proper head!
