Gaily We Were...

Once upon a time, in 1948, a portion of the extensive & elaborate Gaylord lobby was taken away to create the "Gay Room, Dining & Dancing," located where our tenant the HMS Bounty sits today. Above the current ceiling in the Bounty and hidden is this gaily trompe l'oeil ceiling most likely painted during the "Gay Room" days.

So when we eventually get this COVID-19 pandemic in the rearview mirror and are able to return to a somewhat normal life and the HMS reopens for indoor dining & drinks, you can sit there and ponder what other gems might be hidden behind those paneled walls & ceiling from years gone by.

Own the Gaylord...

...a painting, that is.

Recently, I had seen a gentleman sitting across the street working on a painting of the Gaylord over a period of about a week. I had wondered what would happen with his painting. Well, one of our previous residents with her all things Gaylord nostalgia & hawk-eyes came across the painting on ebay and forwarded the link to us this morning.

Here's your chance folks to own a Gaylord portrait and have with you always, wherever you may be, so start bidding (it looks like you have until this coming Sunday afternoon to place your bids)! The Gaylord does not have a relationship with this artist, but we fully appreciate him being a fan and using the Gaylord as his subject matter. Nice job!

She's Back...

After a long & arduous time, she's back! Adama has reopened the Pantry in the Gaylord for the New Year and this is definitely a sign of things to change for the better.

So Gaylord Residents, if you have run out of assorted sundries go to the Pantry (opposite the service elevator on the 1st floor, just ring the bell). Adama & Kaela will be happy to assist you during the posted hours.

Now if we can only get Adama to start up Friday Night Fried Chicken & Fried Fish Dinners again!

Welcome Back Adama!
