Go Blue...

 

Okay all of you Dodger fan-atics & lovers of Gaylord history...

First, a big CONGRATS to the Boys in Blue for winning the 2020 World Series last night and bringing the trophy home to L.A. to help lift the spirits of the city along with the recent NBA championship win by the Lakers.

Second, the man most influential in bringing the Brooklyn Dodgers to Los Angeles was this man, Mayor Norris Poulson (here you have a photo of him celebrating the City Council approving the Dodgers contract on Oct 7, 1957). Upon his return from Washington D.C. in 1953, after having served as a congressman between the years of 1943- 1953 and being elected as mayor of L.A. in 1953, Mayor Norris Poulson & his wife took up temporary residence in the Gaylord while they looked for a "modest home of our own."

Poulson is just another on a long list of distinguished luminaries who resided at the Gaylord over our storied 96 year history. The Gaylord is synonymous with the history of City of Los Angeles.

At 4pm, yesterday afternoon, due to social media "chatter," this is what our maintenance staff needed to do (board up our facade) to protect our residents & home at the Gaylord...

At 8:15pm, yesterday evening, this is what we got to witness instead, a beautiful sunset...

...and thankfully peace prevailed in our neighborhood.

Our Meg is delighted to hear that L.A. County is allowing the re-opening of apartment complex swimming pools under strict guidelines. She can now get back in the water with her new boat and sail away in style!

Gaylord Residents, please be sure to read and adhere to all of the posted protocols outside the pool gate & fence to keep from having to shut the pool down again. Minimal people, social distancing, face coverings, hand sanitizer, no guests & all COVID-19 rules. Enjoy (considerately)!

Local Emergency Order Update...

As of April 10th, the Local COVID-19 Emergency Order in the City & County of Los Angeles has been extended through May 15th, 2020. No tours, viewings or new rental activity will take place until that date or until further notice. Hopefully we can soon get back to finding you a home within our Gaylord community. A BIG thank you to our Julia for bringing a much needed ray of sunshine to our lobby & office with these extraordinarily beautiful arrangements of flowers. The color combination & composition is wild with the wind! There is a mix of proteus, anemone, kangaroo paw, ranunculus, ornamental cabbage...

In Spite of...

With what is going on around the globe at this time, life continues here at the Gaylord. Here's a sign of hope for you all (that's if you can spot it). Let it brighten your day.

A Sign of the Times...

The Line Hotel, just 3 blocks west from the Gaylord, has completely boarded up it's ground floor exterior due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Wilshire Center/Koreatown neighborhood is pretty much a ghost town with most people following the "Safer at Home" order in place by the city & state. Plenty of parking available in the neighborhood!
May the 2nd photo offer you another sign for this time, "PEACE," part of the Shepard Fairey mural on the side of the Line Hotel.

To Lighten the Mood...

With a bit of levity, our Darien made an attempt to lighten the mood during this time of uncertainty for all by jumping in the Gaylord pool this afternoon. Please take note, the outside temperature is 65 degrees and our pool is not heated. We thank this brave soul for bringing smiles to the faces gathered and yes "social distancing" was practiced & in place.
