If you look up towards the upper left corner, on the east side of the Archdiocese building, across from the Gaylord, you will see the nest of the red-tailed hawks. This past Wednesday when I looked up at sunset, I found 4 juvenile hawks (yes, 4!) sitting up in the nest (pictured) as one of the adults flew overhead. They must have been hungry and ready for a meal.
Unfortunately, early evening yesterday, one of the juvenile hawks looked to have been testing his flight skills for it was found in the east bound lane of Wilshire Blvd, directly in front of the Gaylord. A good samaritan and a L.A. County Sheriff's K-9 patrol officer stopped to try and help it, but I do not know what the outcome of their efforts were. We have our fingers crossed & let's hope the siblings fare better.
Wildlife in the city! It's real.
