Just down the 'boulevard,' at the corner of Fairfax, is the Petersen Automotive Museum and for those of you into car culture this is worth paying a visit to. The museum has a permanent streetscape exhibit, located on the ground floor, telling the history of the automobile in southern California with a lot of fine examples from over the years.
Currently, and why the husband & I went to visit this past weekend, are 2 exhibits of interest. 'Fins: Form Without Function' is an exhibit of those beautiful fins (now, who doesn't like a sleek fin?) that started to adorn the automobile during the mid-century decades. In this exhibit you will even find Jayne Mansfield's 1957 pink Lincoln Premier... just as sweet & pretty as the owner!
The other exhibit, 'Pickups: The Art Of Utility' is all about the transformation of the pick up truck over the years. And since the husband & I both drive a pick up truck (my last 3 vehicles have been pick ups) we had to see this exhibit.
There is also a great Steve McQueen owned classic jaguar on hand!
Admission is $15.00. www.petersen.org
