-silent film actress Greta Nissen entertaining in her apartment. Greta starred in 32 films. She was originally chosen by Howard Hughes for the starring role in 'Hell's Angels' (1927), but during production when they decided to make it a 'talkie' Greta was replaced because of her thick Norwegian accent by Jean Harlow, which launched Miss Harlow's career. This you may say is kind of kharma, since the previous year Greta Nissen replaced Greta Garbo in ' The Love Thief' (1926).
-film director, Lothar Mendes and his wife, silent film actress Dorothy Mackaill held a dinner in their apartment for friends. Lothar directed 30 films and Dorothy starred in 68 films. One of Dorothy's leading men being Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.
-Mrs. George A. Ralphs, yes that Ralphs - the founder of the Ralphs grocery store chain, bid bon voyage for a trip around the world.
Page 22, an ad boasting of Chef Maximilian Wacula and the head waiter, 'Jimmy' of the Gaylord. 'Jimmy' looking like a very foreboding character. And should we talk about that name, Wacula?
Page 24, an ad by Walker & Eisen, prestigious architects of the Gaylord and many other structures around L.A. as discussed in previous blog posts.
