For another bachelor (pictured above) of another sort and in another era...
Ernest Vajda was a scholar, playwright and philosopher that lived at the Gaylord back in 1925. Writing film credits include 'Marie Antoinette' with Norma Shearer and 'The Merry Widow' with Jeanette MacDonald.
A bit of the story..."An illustrious writer of super-sophisticated drama is under our roof, a member of the Gaylord family. From his pen has come forth such plays as 'The Harem,' 'Fata Morgana' (recently produced here by the 'Pot Boilers'), 'The Little Angel,' and others of such ilk."
"In New York, had anyone told me I should be coming to Hollywood to write picture stories, I should have thought he was dreaming. No, I could not imagine it. And after I am here I was taken to (mentioning a huge hotel, (the Ambassador maybe)- and the noise, the confusion, the artificiality! No, I could not stand it; I said 'I will go back to New York,' then someone brought us (his brother) here (the Gaylord), and save in Italy I have found no place to please me more."

Spit & Shine...
You may notice a little more luster on the Gaylord brass plaque near the entrance to our beautiful building. Thanks to Bruce for putting his muscle into giving this signage the TLC it deserves.
ALSO, the original sconces with the amber glass, on each side of our front doors, are now illuminated again. Be sure to take note the next time you pass them by in the evening and enjoy the glow.

What a Wonderful Party...
Thank you to all who came out and attended, participated and entertained at the annual Gaylord Holiday/Christmas Party this year. We had a great turn out and a good time. Thank you to Ramon and the Bounty crew for the delicious food & beverages. AND, thank you to our talented residents Maureen Davis (of the 'Flutterbies'), accompanied by Kenny Lyons. Then later in the evening, Luca Ellis (of 'Hoboken to Hollywood'). The 3 performed wonderful holiday songs and classic standards. AND, a big hand to Martha Wilson for all the work she did in hanging the festive decorations throughout our beautiful lobby.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!
