L.A. Marathon Here They Come...
Two of the Gaylord's finest gentlemen, Frank & Ernie, look to be getting ready for the March of 2017, L.A. Marathon. At this impressive rate, they should be fully good to go by that time. Nice to see you both out and about, gentlemen! Enjoy the beautiful weather we are having.

Look... Up in the Sky... It's a...
Our Gaylord sleuth, Evan, came across a recent video showing some of the historic rooftop neon signs throughout Los Angeles, and of course, the Gaylord makes the cut! To see the full video, go to, https://vimeo.com/158929583. These are some stellar classics.
Also, there is a fun article in the LA Times, from August 1, 1988, with quotes from a Raymond Chandler story about the neon lights of Los Angeles. The article goes on to describe the restoration of these lighted crowns, through grants, at that time, with mention of the Gaylord. To read the article, go to, articles.latimes.com/1988-08-01/local/me-4956_1_neon-lights.
And please, drone not me.

Just Who is this Cio-Cio-San...
... I've been hearing about for years? This past Saturday night, I finally got the sad answer as friends of mine took the husband & I out to the opera! This was L.A. Opera's production of 'Madame Butterfly,' which runs through April 3rd, at the Music Center, downtown. I was already familiar with the music to a couple of Puccini's arias from this piece, from over the years, but never really knew the words. Now having seen it, how utterly depressing the story is! But, still beautiful to watch and listen to, in person. Ana Maria Martinez in the title role of 'Butterfly (Cio-Cio-San)' had a gorgeous voice, especially during the quiet moments of the performance.
So, Gaylord residents and L.A. citizens, if you get the chance, GO, get some culture, get dressed up and treat yourself. Tickets start at $17.00. For more info, go to their website at laopera.org .
