In the Neighborhood...
It's a lovely evening in the neighborhood... Busy Wilshire Blvd is all alight, but come on you folks still working in the Equitable Building next door, turn out those office lights and go home! Thank you to our delightful tenants on the 12th floor for providing us with this awesome pic from last night.

Tenant Takes on Hammer...
Our extremely pleasant & culinary Gaylord resident, Kevin from Saving the Season (he is sitting in the center of this creative rug) was one of the hosts, this past Saturday, at the Hammer Museum for the Domestic Integrities Part A03: Los Angeles exhibit. My husband and I stopped by to take a look and there was quite a bit of foot traffic throughout the day for this extraordinary exhibit. We also perused the other galleries and viewed some great art. And the Hammer Museum bookstore never disappoints!

The Boulevard in LA Times...
In yesterday's, the Sunday Edition (March 24, 2013) of the Los Angeles Times, Architecture Critic, Chistopher Hawthorne wrote a profile of Wilshire Boulevard... 'our' Boulevard. Though the Gaylord apartments is not mentioned, Henry 'Gaylord' Wilshire is and in the newspaper article you will find a photo (page 17) of the RFK Memorial, across the street from us, with a reflection of the Gaylord in that memorial. Check it out to read up on the ever changing, evolving Boulevard that so many try to lay a claim on. And for next month, on April 9th, the Gaylord will be celebrating its 89th Anniversary! Here's to our beautiful, magnificent home!

Along with For Your Art, our friends from Saving the Season (who lives in the Gaylord) and Band of Outsiders (who did a photo essay at the Gaylord) will be providing home made (& I am sure delicious!) cookies as part of this exhibit by Los Angeles based artist Fritz Haeg, with live broadcasts on KCHUNG.

Weekend Things To Do...
... or our version of the 'honey do' list. Most every weekend, the mister and I try to get out and explore since we only have the weekends together at this time. This past Sunday afternoon took us to the Autry Museum in Griffith Park, directly across from the L.A. Zoo. Sadly, I have to admit that I have been to their gift shop a couple of times, but never actually walked into the museum (shameful). Go and get yourself a history lesson on the western heritage of the U.S. Along with learning about some of the original settlers (exhibit on the Hopis) you will find exhibits on the European & American migration westward (includes outlaws, the women & a beautifully restored stagecoach). And for you cinema & television folk, an exhibit on the influence of the west on movies, tv & entertainment with costumes, posters & related paraphernalia.
For more info visit their website at theautry.org .
Note: If you go, take Crystal Springs Drive, off of Los Feliz Blvd, to drive by and view all of the children waiting with their families to go on the pony rides in Griffith Park. Cute stuff.
