Gaylord Tour...
I found on youtube some more Gaylord paraphernalia. These 2 clips are a tour of a Single unit from a year ago and a walk through of the pool, patio & lobby. I wish I had been told I was being filmed... I would have prepared for my close-up!

Major trek...
This past Saturday afternoon, I tackled a 12 mile hike on an old horse trail, behind the horse ranch I used to live on up in Moorpark (Ventura County). I had not done this hike in over 5 years (I would also trail ride with the horses here) and the trek showed me how much I am out of shape since having left the rigorous life of ranch living. At one point, when I was making the steep incline on the backside of the mountain, the blood vessels in my neck were pumping so hard & fast I thought it would instantly propel my head off of my shoulders, like a rocket being fired off! If losing my head was not going to kill me, the heart attack that would have ensued surely would have. But the fight was well worth it because I forgot about the glorious vistas you encounter when reaching the mountain ridge. As the sun was setting, I peered on to rolling grassy knolls (where I gazed down upon a family of 3 deer quietly sitting), leading to the Camarillo plain with full views of the Pacific ocean and a clear sight of the Channel Islands. Just amazing. Along the trail, there were 2 separate encounters with majestic red-tail hawks and as I descended the mountain ridge I came across a sizable bobcat.
Half of this hike is along an ancient riverbed. The other half along the mountain ridge. You are able to experience the different flora & climates. This hike is well worth the work-out and this is the season to do it since the rattlesnakes will not be out! Check out Happy Camp Canyon Regional Park on the L.A. Mountains website...

Syfy channel's FaceOff...
Our Miranda is making a name for herself again! She is competing in this seasons competition of Face Off on the Syfy channel. This is the show where the competitors put their best work to the test in special effects make-up. The imaginations are incredible and to see the process come to life is intriguing to watch. And of course, we are cheering on our Miranda! Watch it on Wednesday nights, at 10pm, on Syfy.

Killer Shrimp is Back!
... who knew?! Back in the early 90's, one of the Betsey Johnson alumnus started the fave restaurant for all of our BJ crew, Killer Shrimp, located on Washington Blvd in Venice. Simple concept, you got either the 'original' shrimp (served in a secret butter, beer, seasoned sauce with french bread for dipping) or shrimp over pasta or shrimp over rice. The preference for those in the know, the 'original' with a Corona and then finish it off with a slice of sweet potato pecan pie! Mm Mm goooood. Soon after, there was a 2nd location in Studio City, on Ventura Blvd. 2-3 years ago, both locations closed down much to the dismay of us shrimp lovers.
But now! Killer Shrimp is back and located on Admiralty Way, down in the Marina. In a larger space with an extended menu, but the 'original' is still on there & tasting as good as ever. I went there last night for a birthday dinner for one of my ex-Betsey Johnson cohorts and it was like turning the clock back 20 years.
If you enjoy shrimp, this is a 'must have.'

New Find...
... for good eats! Little Dom's, located on Hillhurst, about one block south of Los Feliz Blvd, is a great find. This past New Year's Day morning, my fiance & I went there for breakfast. I always drove by in the past and would see a crowd there feasting. Feast, we did! He, on a scrambled eggs bruschetta, grilled baguette, roasted tomatos & pesto. I, on a porcini mushroom, potato fritatta special. And the coffee... was a real cup of coffee. This is a charmer with a timeless, old world feel and I will definitely be going back to try one of the nightly dinner specials. Wild boar, anyone? Check it out!
